If you are interested in helping Scouting but can't give a set time each week to help with a section then why not consider Scout Active Support?

We help out where and when we can with Scouting and Guiding mainly in the Deal and Dover areas although we have helped at County level on some events.   Most of our help seems to have developed around cooking!  We run burgers bars to raise funds and help out at camps and events cooking for District or Group events. We give other assistance to free up Leaders to  give them more time to help the young members of the Scout Association.  We have supplied a Burger Bar at the last two Kent International Jamborees raising funds - six days of hard work but well worth the experience meeting youngsters from around the world.  Our aim is to 'give' to Scouting but to enjoy ourselves at the same time.

Over the past few years we have had several members travel to France each December to collect the Bethlehem Peace Light from French Scouts.  We have had a few 'Gite' holidays in Belgium with a Belgium Scouting contact and have had a day trip to Ypres on 11.11.2017 to lay a wreath at the Menine Gate  8pm service.

We have Unit Meetings on a fairly regular basis to discuss forthcoming events, requests for donations/sponsorship and to catch up with each other.  The meetings are fairly informal and generally accompany a fish and chip supper.  At present we meet at 1st Deal HQ.

If you've been a Leader but find you can no longer give the time for the position but still want to help out or if you're a parent or have been a member of Scouting in the past and want to give some help then why not consider Scout Active Support.  You don't have to have any Scouting or Guiding experience to join us.

We all become members of the Scout Association on joining the Unit and have to work to association rules and are subject to regular DBS (criminal record) checks.  We have our own 'uniform' polo shirt, necker and hoodie which are subsidised by our own funds and as members of the Association can wear full Scout uniform.   We pay a nominal membership fee to Unit funds but, as adults, have free membership of the Scout Association.

So if you are interested or would like further information contact details are on our home page or speak to any member.
